Third Friday Presents: Lost on the Lady Elgin with Valerie Van Heest

Friday, September 20th at 7pm

Author, exhibit designer, and underwater explorer, Valerie van Heest, focused on the many ethical dilemmas surrounding the steamship Lady Elgin lost in 1860. The Great Lakes' most deadly shipwreck disaster led to the longest legal battle over the wreckage. The museum showcased, for the first time, some of the many artifacts recovered from the wreck, including muskets and swords that were destined for use in the Civil War.
